Project Management
Senior Project Management
Not every project needs the same kind of management. Some need someone embedded full-time. Others need a part-time steady hand. Some need governance and oversight. Others need someone to own the whole thing end to end.
With 30 years across the full software lifecycle and experience leading complex programmes for the NHS, Yara International, and AstraZeneca, I adapt to what your project actually needs — not what a methodology textbook says it should need. I work primarily in Agile and Scrum, but I go where the project takes me.
How I can engage:
Embedded PM — I join your team and own delivery full time
Fractional PM — Senior oversight on a flexible, part-time basis
Advisory & Governance — Independent oversight alongside your existing PM
End-to-End Ownership — From requirements to go-live, I own it entirely
I work with: Startups & scale-ups · SMEs · Enterprise & large corporates
Why Partner With Me?
Having worked with many teams in so many different scenarios, you get a sense for what will work and what needs to be called out, before the expenses begin to pile up. My approach is inherently collaborative—I don't just hand off requirements, I make sure the team understands them and sees them through to delivery.
An essential part of project management is taking responsibility. This is something that is easier when you have your foundations in place.

Who I Work With
I work with organisations across the growth spectrum — from ambitious startups moving fast and building foundations, to established SMEs scaling their technology, to large enterprise teams running complex, multi-workstream programmes.
What they have in common is a need for project management that goes beyond process compliance — leadership that keeps people aligned, decisions that keep delivery moving, and communication that keeps stakeholders confident.
Startups & Scale-Ups
Speed matters at this stage, but so does building the right foundations. I help early-stage and scaling organisations deliver their product ambitions without accumulating the technical debt, team dysfunction, and scope chaos that derails so many fast-moving companies. I bring structure without bureaucracy — enough governance to keep you in control, light enough not to slow you down.
SMEs
Growing businesses often reach a point where informal project management stops working — where the founder can no longer hold everything in their head, where delivery starts to slip, and where the team needs clearer direction. I step in at exactly this inflection point, bringing the kind of senior PM experience that would otherwise require a costly permanent hire.
Enterprise & Large Corporates
Complex programmes, distributed teams, multiple stakeholders, competing priorities. I've operated at this level across some of the world's most demanding organisations — including Yara International, where I led seven Agile delivery teams within a SAFe framework, and AstraZeneca, where I delivered PM improvement programmes within their rare diseases division. I understand the politics, the governance requirements, and the communication cadences that enterprise delivery demands.
How I Engage
I don't offer a one-size-fits-all model. Depending on your situation, I can work with you in several ways:
Embedded Project Manager
I join your team — in person or remotely — and take full responsibility for driving the project forward. I own the plan, manage the team, report to stakeholders, and make the day-to-day decisions that keep delivery on track. For organisations that need a senior PM but aren't ready for a permanent hire, this is often the most effective model.
Fractional Project Manager
For organisations that need experienced PM oversight without a full-time commitment, I work on a part-time or flexible basis — providing the structure, governance, and leadership your project needs while fitting around your existing team and budget.
Advisory & Governance
Sometimes you have a PM already in place but want an independent, experienced voice to sense-check the approach, challenge the plan, and ensure the right governance is in place. I provide objective oversight without taking over — giving your leadership team the confidence that delivery is being properly managed.
End-to-End Delivery Ownership
From requirements gathering through to go-live and handover, I take complete ownership of the delivery lifecycle. This is the model I used on the NHS medical records tracking system — starting from zero and managing the project through to productisation and roadmap. If you need someone to own it entirely, I can do that.
My Approach
I work primarily in Agile and Scrum environments, though with 30 years of experience across Agile, PRINCE2, and hybrid methodologies, I adapt to whatever framework best serves the project rather than imposing a preferred way of working.
A few principles I bring to every engagement:
Transparency Over Comfort
I will always tell you where the project actually stands — not where you'd like it to stand. Early, honest communication about risks and issues is what gives you time to act. Status reports that obscure problems are worse than useless.
Outcomes Over Outputs
Delivering a project on time is not the same as delivering value. I keep one eye on the plan and one eye on whether what we're building will actually achieve the business outcome it was designed for. Features that don't serve the outcome don't make the cut.
People-First Delivery
Projects are delivered by people. I've managed geographically distributed teams across multiple time zones and cultures, and I've learned that the quality of your team relationships is the single biggest predictor of delivery success. I invest in team dynamics, communication, and clarity — because a motivated, aligned team will outperform a well-documented plan every time.
Risk Before It Becomes a Problem
With 30 years across the full SDLC — including development, testing, and analysis — I spot the warning signs that less experienced PMs miss. I manage risk proactively, not reactively.
What Good Project Management Delivers
When project management is done well, it's almost invisible — things just seem to happen, problems get resolved before they escalate, and the team always knows what they're doing and why. What it actually delivers is:
Projects completed on time and within budget
Stakeholders who are informed, confident, and aligned
Teams that are clear on priorities and motivated to deliver
Risks identified and mitigated before they become crises
Clean documentation and a smooth handover at the end
A foundation your organisation can build on — not just a finished project
